Tomas Diagne – Co-Founder, AACF & Director, ACI

Tomas Diagne is an African freshwater turtle and tortoise expert who has been working to save threatened and endangered turtle species in Senegal for the past 30 years. He is the co-founder of AACF and Director of the African Chelonian Institute (ACI). Tomas began rescuing endangered African spurred tortoises as a teenager, and in 1992 he created S.O.S. (Save Our Sulcatas), a non-profit conservation organization.

Angela Formia has been working on sea turtle research and conservation in the Gulf of Guinea since she began her PhD work in 1998, which focused on the conservation genetics of green turtles in the region.
