Clinton Factheu
Postdoctoral Researcher
Clinton is passionate about marine mammal research and conservation. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Applied Zoology in 2018 at the University of Yaoundé I in Cameroon, he began his doctoral research at the same university, and Dr. Lucy Keith-Diagne was one of his supervisors. His Ph.D. thesis focused on African manatee genetics and acoustics in Cameroon. He conducted the first country-wide African manatee genetic study in Cameroon and the first year-round passive acoustic monitoring of the species in Lake Ossa, one of their most important habitats. Between 2018 and 2024, Clinton worked as a research assistant, then as the science director of the African Marine Conservation Organization (AMCO) in Cameroon. He began a postdoctoral re search position with AACF in October 2025. Clinton enjoys travelling and is a fan of old-school music.
